Fountainhead:(ayn rand):Dont let the size of the book and its extremely microscopic print intimidate you....it is all the novel cover claims to be...that is a modern classic....you may not agree with all that this book says but you definitelycant ignore it....
the protagonist of this novel is Howard Roark a brilliant architect who loves his work....This fact is precisely what works against his favor in a world where misguided souls preach that selflessness is the biggest virtue....people are under the illusion that having self respect and ego is a crime and working for your your own satisfaction is a sin...They believe that they should look for others approval in all that they do and should have no aim in life other than helping the needy...In this world roark appears like a knight in shining armor...who believes that buildins should be built according to its purpose and the tenant should live up to his building....his integrity is unyielding and refuses to bend according to the wishes of his disillusioned society...
- The other protagonists of this book are...
- Peter keating,..who is the perfect example of the kind of person who seeks approval from others and is an architect who is least bothered about architecture,...
- Gail wynand,..who has the right ideals but went astray in his life trying to publicize the irrelevant through his tabloid 'Banner'
- Dominique Francon,...who loves roark but forces herself to suffer in order to gain immunity from being afraid of the world and
- Ellsworth Toohey,..who is the villanous preacher who misguides society...
All in all a great read which forces you to think about the world we live in and importantly have we chosen a career for other s approval or for our own satisfaction
